The second public meeting for the South Fidalago subarea planning process has been scheduled for 6:00 pm Thursday, February 8 at Lindgren Hall at the Walla Walla College Marine Station.
The same meeting had been scheduled for November of last year and in early January, but winter weather forced cancellation on both occasions.
Organizers plan to present comments and issues raised at the October 18th event, where residents were asked to affirm or criticize aspects of the prior draft subarea plan, including one committee’s recommendations to re-zone most of the area. As requested by some in October, the meeting will include an “open mike” opportunity for participants to voice concerns. A presentation will also outline draft strategies supporting the vision statement from the first process, which is widely supported by participants.
A two-day charrette style workshop is planned sometime this spring, though no dates have been confirmed. The entire process is expected to produce recommendations by mid-2007, from which the County will prepare a fully detailed land use and policy plan.
Lindgren Hall is located at 15510 Rosario Beach Road, at the Walla Walla College Marine Center on South Fidalgo Island. All area residents and interested parties are encouraged to attend. Directions to the facility are available by clicking here. A site map including parking and building locations has been posted here.
